Milk and Mortality

Have you been reading the news lately? Well, finally some major studies have been coming out in regards to dairy consumption. It won’t be long before the whole system cracks and most people will have to face the hard reality, that dairy does No Body No Good…nor was it ever meant for us to consume in any way shape or form!

Listen to this from PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine), “High cow’s milk intake is associated with increased risk for bone fractures and death, according to a new study in the British Medical Journal. Researchers followed 61,433 women and 45,339 men for more than 20 years and 11 years, respectively. Among women, those who consumed three or more glasses of milk per day had a 60 percent increased risk for developing a hip fracture and a 16 percent increased risk for developing any bone fracture. These results are similar to previous studies showing no protective effect of increased milk consumption on fracture risk.

Additionally among women, for each glass of milk consumed, risk of dying from all causes increased by 15 percent, from heart disease by 15 percent, and from cancer by 7 percent. For the women who consumed three or more glasses of milk per day, compared with less than one glass, risk of dying increased by 93 percent. Men had a 10 percent increased risk of dying when consuming three or more glasses of milk per day, compared with less than one glass.”

I have said it before and will say it again, if you have a cancer cell looking for action and you pour on dairy – the growth is explosive in just a matter of a few weeks! Having lost my close friend to breast cancer, I believe that dairy was part of the problem during her second bout with it. However, I didn’t know this at the time and neither did she. Her doctor didn’t either! Most of them aren’t going to tell you because this is not what they’re in the business to do! It’s not because they’re necessarily a bad physicians, but simply because they were never taught nutrition nor are most doctors into preventative medicine. Casein is, by the way, the main protein in cows milk, making up about 80% of it. Today I saw a man sitting in his car guzzling milk from a jug just like this guy. I was itching to knock on his window and give him “the talk”, but I refrained! However, the other day when I was at the grocery store and was passing the frozen foods isle,

Man & Milk

I saw a guy loading his cart with Tillamook Ice cream. I just couldn’t help myself! I showed the guy the non-dairy options and talked to him about the ill effects of dairy. His name was Mike. He’s a father of a three-year-old and has a wife! I said, “Look, Mike, the statistics are grim enough as they are! You want to be around for your child, right? Well, It’s time to ditch the dairy!” Funny, I’m an excellent sales person, but when it comes to THIS, I am really bad for sales, unless it’s of course,  non-dairy milk! Well, it’s not just me spewing stuff all over the page to give milk a bad wrap. Another study also came out from Uppsala University in Sweden which suggested “that consuming more milk could actually be associated with higher mortality and bone fractures in women and higher mortality in men.” I have provided a link to the article, from the Washington Post, at the bottom of this page.

Milk & Mortality

Another informative and excellent article came out by Dr. Thomas M. Campbell (Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s son) called “12 Frightening Facts About Milk”. I have included that one as well. Seriously, with all this information out there, why in the world is it still being produced, you may wonder? Well, that’s a great question! I walk into a newly remodeled grocery store in my city and they have dedicated the first large section to cheese. Why? Because it is addictive! As Dr. Neal Barnard will ask his captive audiences, “What is dairy’s job? Dairy’s job is to get that calf to grow large within a short amount of time.” Well, think about it. Cancer grows as well, like I mentioned earlier, in a short amount of time, thanks to dairy! Plus dairy contains addictive enzymes that  are supposed to make the calf drink it’s mother’s milk….unless, of course, it is born in a factory farm and ripped violently away from its mother right after birth to then be made into veal.  Okay, you’ve now heard me again talk about the ill effects of dairy…if you’re new to my blog, you can scroll down and click on the post that contains all my posts about dairy called, “My Cow With Dairy”…because seriously,

don’t be a fool…dairy ain’t so cool!

Meat Is the New Tobacco

PCRM (The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) posted this new brilliant ad, in case you haven’t seen it. I love the cleverness and design of this poster!

Meat is the New TobaccoMeat is the New Tobacco

In case you can’t read it clearly, under MEAT it says:

  • Bladder Cancer

  • Breast Cancer

  • Espohageal Cancer

  • Gastrointestinal Cancer

  • Kidney Cancer

  • Leukemia

  • Lung Cancer

  • Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

  • Pancreatic Cancer

  • Prostate Cancer

Having read “The China Study” and gone through Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s eCornell course on Plant-based nutrition, I must include “Blindness” to the list as well! Yes, eating meat can cause you to go blind down the line! None of these happen overnight. Cancer growth takes between 5 – 40 years to develop! If you care about your health, the people around you, that you care and love, you will want to limit – if not completely cut out – meat from your diet! Why not start 2014 off right and go veg at least once or twice per week? What do you got to lose? Take charge of your health! Happy Saturday, everyone and thanks for reading!

Dear Walmart…Let’s Talk About True Happiness!

Dear Walmart,

Recently you posted the following quote on your website. Your advertisement team wrote, “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy bacon and that’s kind of the same thing!” This caused a lot of stir in the community! We don’t all agree with you! Some of your bacon loving customers might, but there’s a large community of some pretty smart people and this community is growing! People are, thankfully, awakening to the facts! Some of my friends are doctors, lawyers, social workers, nurses, teachers, business owners…and they responded to your “bacon equals happiness” equation with great dismay. These are professionals, who know the truth about the sort of business that you conduct! Fortunately, more and more people…namely, your customers…are coming to know the truth about this!

Walmart Stop Supporting Animal Abuse

Not long ago, Mercy for Animals exposed the horrific abuse of pigs from the suppliers that provide you with bacon. This exposure must have lost you some serious bacon sales and therefore you’re now looking for ways to “re-establish” your image in the community by using, as a friend of mine pointed out, “reverse psychology”. Well, it isn’t working. The sad reality is this…

pigs in factory farm…Pigs in factory farms!

CAFO – The Tragedy of Industrial Animal Factories

I believe that your customers are pretty smart people, who not only want to feed their family healthy foods, but who also have enough sense not to support animal cruelty! Pigs are just as intelligent as the family dog, so why would we do this to them? Pigs are natural foragers. They like to graze, play, listen to music, be petted, run around…just like a dog! What you see above is the reality of how they are living! Does this look humane to you? Imagine yourself in one of these metal confinements, even for just half a day! Would you think that was okay? I can’t even begin to imagine what this must do to their intelligent minds! The fact is, they go nuts and so would our pets, if they were put in one of these metal stands!

Pigs foragingNot Walmart pigs!

You responded back, “For the past several months, we have been working on a new comprehensive auditing and tracking program for pork, which we recently rolled out. The program is designed to track and source pork to help ensure that we purchase only from farms that are certified to meet the highest standards for the treatment of animals.”
Unfortunately, as much as we’d like to believe you, most of us are not buying this! First of all, what program and how do you audit and how often do you plan to do so? My other question to you is, how can you make this work? You sell things for much less, including animal products!

Suma, of the Karnataka Garment Workers UnionIndia’s Clothing Workers: “They slap us and call us dogs and donkeys”

Your business thrives on the exploitation of not just animals but humans as well, as I well recall seeing during an Oprah episode about a female worker making sweatpants for your company in India. This woman was paid next to nothing, lived in deplorable conditions and was working 14 or more hours per day. It was inhumane and disgusting! We ask, why should we then not be surprised that you would care less about how the animals are living and treated, when you have so little thought and compassion for the human kind?

Heart-Disease-01Processed Meats Increases Risk of Heart Disease by 40 Percent

For those of you interested in the health of your families, the fact is that eating pigs is a double edged sword – bacon does NOT love you back! It’ll eventually kill you! Their fattening meat with its saturated fat and cholesterol, especially bacon, is not only artery blocking, but also cancer promoting!  A more accurate quote could be, “You can’t buy health or happiness, but you can exercise and eat your veggies – and that, dear customers, will result in more health, happiness and well being!”

So Walmart, perhaps 2014 will be the year where you show the world that you’re capable of changing your image and become a company who not only cares about your customers requests and concerns, but also about your employees’ welfare and the welfare of the living, breathing, sentient beings that you sell for profit – packaged in plastic and stamped with colorful labels. Let’s all remember that there once was a living, breathing animal who only wished for a piece joy and happiness in this world…just like you and me!
