This morning I come across a petition supporting a New York bill that would ban tattooing animals. I signed it immediately! It’s the least I could do! Tattooing animals, for Pete’s sake? What are they thinking?! Animals can’t speak for themselves. No animal is going to come up to you and say, “Hey, I’d like your name tattooed across my back because I love you so much!” Seriously, it is cruel! I have no objections to humans getting tattoos. Hey I have one, but that was my personal choice! Should we impose our choices for tattoos on animals just because we “own” them or just because we can? I don’t think so! One of my friends on FaceBook wrote, “Omg! What next? Their children?”
My head instantly became flooded with World War II images of innocent jews getting a number tattooed on their arm, which they hadn’t asked for either! Another friend on FaceBook wrote, “Animals are NOT inanimate objects for humans to decorate at their whim. This is an abomination. You’re right Nina, if you a person enjoys wearing a tattoo, that is fine. But don’t treat an animal like an object. Just because they can’t ask for a tattoo does not necessarily mean they want it. It is strictly a “human” thing wearing a tattoo.” I can only agree with him. There are many things that I don’t understand about human behavior towards animals and other humans, but one thing I do understand is that people who act in inhumane and cruel ways do so out of feelings of superiority and arrogance – making others into objects or “things” to be used! I ask you to please take a few minutes to sign the petition below in support of Linda Rosenthal who started this petition and for all the animals out there who cannot speak for themselves against this type of cruelty! Thank you in advance for doing so! I greatly appreciate you all!

Please sign the petition below to protect us!”
